Oct 13, 1943 - Oct 24, 2013 FORT GIBSON Amos Henry Farr, 70, of Fort Gibson, OK, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at his home. He was born on Oct. 13, 1943, in Paris, TX to Billy Farr and Vivian Marie Almond Farr. Amos graduated from Antlers High School in May of 1961. He attended Austin College and also was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1961 to 1968. Amos worked for the Oklahoma State Board of Agriculture and Carlos Logan Construction Co. in 1963. He went to work for the Oklahoma Highway Dept. from 1963 to 1967. Amos joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) in 1967, graduating from the 22nd OHP Academy with Badge #101, a career from which he retired after 22 years of service. In addition to working for the OHP, he worked part time for Bill Bull Motors until 1999. Amos then worked as a fraud investigator for both the Oklahoma Insurance Department and the Attorney General's office. Amos enjoyed his involvement with the Shriners and the Royal Order of the Jesters, where he served as the Director of Chapter 099 Muskogee Court. Amos loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching the Dallas Cowboys and OU football. He enjoyed attending the Trooper breakfasts and luncheons, going four wheeling, fishing, working crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Eva Lyn Clements. Amos is survived by his wife of 17 years, Hazlette, of the home; his daughters: Cathy Guthrie and husband Ron, of Tulsa; and Sara Kyte and husband Jay, of OKC; his son, Bill Farr and wife Cindy, of Muskogee; stepdaughters: Courtney Lamont and husband Charles, of Muskogee; and Amy Bennett and husband John, of Bixby; granddaughter, Lindsay Guthrie; step-grandchildren, Carsen Lamont, Chloe Lamont, Jackson Bennett, and Foster Bennett; sister, Sue Hardy, and niece, Margaret Hardy, both of Austin, TX; and other family members and friends. Funeral services for Amos will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 600 E. Okmulgee St., Muskogee, OK 74403, with Chaplain Sam Garner and Dr. Jack Kemper officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, with the OHP Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Rushing, Don Smalling, Larry Rutherford, Judge Mike Norman, Ben Robinson, Doug Nichols, Eddie Kirkland, Don Warlick, Hal Brame, Tom FitzGibbon, Bill Inhofe, James Cather, and Jim Hardin.
