BILL HUNTER Obituary
November 6, 1926 - August 24, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY William H. "Bill" Hunter, Jr., left to join his Lord and Savior & numerous family members & friends on Sun., August 24th. Bill was born November 6, 1926 in OKC, OK & lived his entire life in south OKC. He attended Shields Heights Grade School & Capitol Hill Junior & Capitol Hill Senior High School, graduating after WWII service with the class of 1946. He later graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1959. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1945 & the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. In February, 1946, he started working on film row, first with Warner Bros., then moved to MGM & ended his film career with United Artist in December, 1961. He was employed by the Okla. Employment Security Commission where he retired in March 1987 as Assistant Chief of Research & Planning. Bill was raised attending Wilmont Place Baptist Church & married his teenage Sweetheart, "Billie Gene Horner" on July 17, 1943 while he was only 16 years old. They have one daughter, Candy Hines, & two granddaughters, Chelle & Hayley Hines. Bill & Billie were among the small group of people that started the Knob Hill Baptist Church in 1958 & then the Southern Hills Baptist Church in 1962. Bill spent the last years of his life at Village on the Park with many of his friends. He is survived by Candy, Hayley & Chelle Hines, also a number of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 661/2 years, his parents, Willie & Mattie Harris Hunter, three sisters, Daphna Hobbs, Mildred Reser, & Mickey Bassett. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Pennsylvania, OKC, OK, with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, OK.
