Obituary Condolences

December 22, 1942 - July 12, 2014 EL RENO F. Dale Bynum left this life and went to live with his Heavenly Father on July 12, 2014. He was born December 22, 1942, in Olustee, Oklahoma, to Olen and Johnnie (Ledbetter) Bynum. He grew up in Altus, Oklahoma, and graduated from Altus High School in 1961. That year, he married Donna Preston, and they made their home in El Reno, where they raised their three children, Greg, Kristi, and Angie. Dale served in the United States Army and Army Reserve. He worked as a car dealer and real estate broker before beginning his career as an accomplished real estate appraiser. He was active in the Central Oklahoma Chapter and National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. He was also a distinguished instructor, winning numerous awards for his work, including NAIFA National Director, National Committee member, National Instructor of the Year 2003, and National Appraiser of the year 2006. One of the highlights of Dale's career was when he was invited by the Russian government to teach U.S. appraising principles to Russian appraisal students in Montenegro, Russia. Dale counted this as an "experience of a lifetime." Dale was very active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors at Park View Hospital as well as serving as Exalted Ruler of the El Reno Elks Lodge. He volunteered in the El Reno FFA for many years, being named an Honorary State Farmer. In addition, he achieved the level of 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He also served as a Reserve Deputy for the Canadian County Sheriff's Office. Later in life, he married Sandra (Coker) Johnson, and they together enjoyed their mutual hobbies of "garage saleing" and traveling, while also being active members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in El Reno and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dale was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Greg Bynum, of El Reno; daughter, Kristi Funck and her husband Joe, of Edmond; daughter, Angie Stanley and her husband Mark, of Yukon; and stepsons, Jeff Johnson and wife Trish, of Oklahoma City; Tim Johnson, of Yukon; and Brett Johnson and wife Suzanne, of Norman. He is also survived by loving grandchildren, Wyatt Bynum; Dylan Russell and Josh Funck; Hunter, Chase, Raegan, and Brady Stanley; Brandon, Joey, and Johnnie Adair; Taryn and Payten Johnson; and Shelby and Hannah Johnson; also, godchild, Carrington Coker, of Edmond, OK. Other survivors include his Aunt Joretta and Uncle Jerry Doyle, of Moore, OK; Uncle Jim and Aunt Shirley Ledbetter, of Point Blank, TX; numerous cousins and other family members as well as countless longtime friends. The family is eternally grateful for the compassionate care he received at Mercy hospital in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in El Reno. A Prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday with Deacon Lloyd Menz officiating, and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday with the Revs. Mark Mason and Francis Nguyen officiating. Both services will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home in El Reno.
