IVA HOLLOWAY Obituary
June 23, 1917 - May 3, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Iva Mae Holloway, 96, of OKC, passed away on May 3, 2014. She was born near Lexington, OK to Waymon Clifford Holloway, Sr. & May Susan (Dare) Holloway on June 23, 1917. Her family moved to Ponca City in 1921, and she graduated from Ponca City High School in 1935. She received her bachelor's degree from OCU in 1939 and went on to do graduate work at Northwestern University and Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. Iva dedicated her life to the Methodist Church, serving as Christian Education Director at churches in Colorado, Illinois, Texas, and Oklahoma. She served as the Conference Director for Youth Work in western Oklahoma for four years. After her retirement from the Methodist Church, she continued her work with young people for 11 more years as a Research Library Assistant at the UCO. Iva Mae was an active member of St. Luke's Methodist Church, serving where needed since 1974. Iva was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margie McGee, Virgie Woodward, Mildred Sue Cochran, and Betty Vanderford; brother, WC "Pete" Holloway, Jr.; nephew, James McGee; and great-nephew, Kyle Shaw. Her brother, Fred C. Holloway, survives her. Iva Mae never married, so enjoyed the children of her brothers and sisters, including 15 remaining nieces and nephews and their families. She will always be remembered as the glue that held our extended family together. Iva Mae was well-known as a very kind, appreciative, and gentle lady. People would often describe her in those terms when speaking of her. The family would like to express their appreciation to the kindness and caring of the staffs at Integris Hospice House, The Wellington, and Universal Home Health. Viewing will be 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family to receive friends 5-7 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Watchorn Chapel at St. Luke's Methodist Church.
