Obituary Condolences

May 11, 1921 - July 8, 2014 CAMARGO Ival Lee Miller, Camargo, Oklahoma, resident, died on July 8, 2014, at the Seiling Hospital at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 27 days. Ival was born May 11, 1921, at Dr Harris' office in Camargo to Maurice Denton & Leota Myrle (Wing) Miller. Ival was raised on a farm in the Riverview Community southeast of Camargo, attending grade school at Riverview and finishing his schooling at Camargo High School, graduating with the Class of 1941. Ival enlisted in the U.S. Army February 9, 1942, after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was in the 327th Ordnance Company and was part of the first troops sent to Casablanca. While sailing from Oran to Sicily, the ship was torpedoed for five hours and went down. The raft he was on was rescued by an Italian fishing boat and taken to Sicily. He was then on detached service, and 16 of his troop members were in Corsica, where he viewed the Napoleon Museum. The company landed at Naples on the Italian Coast and was in Rome when the war ended. He was honorably discharged November 28, 1945. While proudly serving our country, he earned the rank of staff sergeant and was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, European Theater Ribbon, Bronze Service Star and World War II Victory Medal, which were lost in the tornado in 1955. A few months later, after his arrival back home, he married his sweetheart, Mary Jeanne Cummings, on March 31, 1946, at Camargo Methodist Church. To this union were born three daughters, Patsy Jeanne; Bobbie Gale; and Katherine Sue, who died at birth. After spending time in the Army Reserves, he started a construction crew, later working for Sabine Oil Company with his crew. After retiring, Ival enjoyed many hours in his large garden growing vegetables for his family and friends. Ival was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Leota Miller; daughter, Katherine Sue; brothers, Donald Denton and Eddie Gale Miller; and sister, Helen Arminta Margheret and husband John. Leaving to mourn his death are his wife of 68 years, Mary Jeanne, of Camargo, OK; daughters, Patsy Parker and Bobbie Gale Ralston and husband Wade, all of Woodward, OK; grandchildren, Michael Don Baker, of U.S. Navy, and wife Dawn; Trishia Knott and husband Michael J., of Stillwater, OK; Curtis Ralston and wife Brent of Fort Smith, AR; and Chris Ralston and wife Susannah, of Tulsa, OK; his great-grandchildren, Megan, Taylor, Ashley, Matthew, Samantha, Abigale, Hope, Lauragale, and Noah; sisters, Juanita McLain, Doris Bridges and husband Olen, Dixie Salisbury and husband John, all of Vici, OK; and Patsy Lou Gaston and husband Garland, of Noble, OK; brother, Joe Mac Miller and wife Carol, of Sharon, OK; other relatives and a host of friends.
