Obituary Condolences

April 12, 1989 - May 12, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Jefferson Pearce "JP" Grasmick was born April 12, 1989 to Mindy and Howard Grasmick. He attended Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene from birth through his high school years at which time he began attending Newchurch. He attended Putnam City Schools through the fifth grade. As a sixth grader, he became a Bethany Broncho and continued to be proud of and involved with his alma mater even after graduation. Jefferson excelled in athletics, especially football (All State 2007) and baseball (All Conference 2006-2008). After high school he briefly attended Southwest Oklahoma State University before joining the U.S. Army. He was a member of the infantry serving in a long-range surveillance unit at Ft Lewis, WA where he earned his Airborne Patch and became a Sergeant last year. He loved the Army life and, for some reason, enjoyed jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft. For the last three years, Jefferson battled cancer, going through numerous surgeries, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and, lastly, a clinical trial at MD Anderson. Jefferson faced his disease with courage and dignity until finishing strong on May 12, 2014. Jefferson loved children, the great outdoors (particularly his grandparents' cabin in Wyoming), snowboarding and dogs (most recently Havik). He was extremely proud of his new niece, born this April. Most precious, he left behind a gift for us. We know without a doubt that he is now in Heaven because of the fruit of his life and the word of his testimony.Jefferson is survived by his parents, Mindy and Howard; sister, Emily Meek and brother-in-law, Adam Meek; brother, Christian "C"; niece, Macy Meek; grandparents, June and Arnold Baxter; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins with whom he had very special relationships. The celebration of Jefferson's life will be at 11:30am on Monday, May 19, at Newchurch, 9201 N. Rockwell in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jefferson can be made to GoMitchGo for cancer research. To share a memory or condolence, visit www.mercer-adams.com www.mercer-adams.com
