Obituary Condolences

Dec 13, 1929 - June 20, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Jimmie Lee Cassity, 83, of OKC, passed away June 20, 2013, at his home after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Purcell, OK to Guy William & Jimmie Lee (Clement) Cassity. He graduated from Purcell High in 1948 and then joined the U.S. Navy. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Jean Rose, on Dec. 24, 1948, in Purcell. They made their home in south OKC and together raised four children. Jimmie worked for 31 years as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 30 years. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Guy William and George Robert Cassity; daughter, Betty Palmer; and grandson, Kyle Sellmyer. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Marvin Eaton and Judy & Greg Sellmyer, of OKC; and son, Jimmy Cassity, of Alamosa, CO; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25 at Asbury United Methodist Church in OKC. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
