Obituary Condolences

Aug 21, 1927 - Aug 13, 2014 BETHANY Raymond Leon Bacon went into the loving arms of his Savior on August 13, 2014, at age 86, after living many years in Bethany, OK. He was born on August 21, 1927, on the family farm in Cowden, OK to Jacob and Lula Bacon. Raymond was a loving husband, dad, papa, and friend. He married Janaree Maynard on April 14, 1951. Following graduation from Southwestern State College, Raymond joined the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years of service. He later retired from Liberty National Bank after 20 years in banking. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association for over 40 years and served as President of the local branch four terms. Ray loved volunteering at his church, where he served as a deacon and enjoyed membership 47 years. Ray and Jan enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and stepdad, Garland Walker. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jan; two daughters, Patti James and husband Troy and Cheryl Telford and husband Darren; eight grandchildren, Shellie, Jordan, Julia, Natalie, Clark, Candace, Samuel, and Audra; and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Madeline. Viewing will be on Sunday, 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. with family present 3-5 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, August 18, 10 a.m. at Putnam City Baptist Church with interment at 3 p.m. in the Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, OK.
