October 8, 1921 - May 20, 2013 GEARY Vera Lee Turner was born on October 8, 1921 to Casper Clarence and Mary A. Coyle at her home in Yukon, OK. Vera Lee graduated from Yukon High School in 1938, and attended LSU for 2 years in Baton Rouge, LA. Vera Lee Coyle was united in marriage to Martin L. Turner on February 14, 1942 in Kingfisher, OK. During WWII, Vera Lee worked for McDonnell Douglas Defense Plant in Long Beach, CA for four years while Martin was serving in the South Pacific and San Diego, CA in the US Navy. Martin and Vera Lee purchased the Turner Funeral Home in Geary, OK in April 1949. They also owned Vera Lee's Flower Shop, and operated both until they retired in 1989. Vera Lee was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Geary, OK. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the First Baptist Church in Yukon, OK as a teenager. Her mother, Mary A. Coyle was her Sunday School teacher at the time of her being born again into the family of God. Vera Lee was a licensed funeral director and florist. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #69, and the Clover Leaf Club, Geary, OK.Survivors Include two sons, David Turner and wife Nancy of Hinton, OK, and Tim Turner of Stillwell, OK; 6 grandchildren, Susan Harris and husband Curtis of Flower Mound, TX, Russ Turner of Tahlequah, OK, Andee Turner and wife Kori of Hinton, OK, Tracy Ford and husband Chad of Vian, OK, Adam Turner and wife Tiffany of Haltom City, TX and Dawn Sesto and husband Russ of Menasha, WI; 16 great grandchildren, Brie Ann Harris, Brylane Turner, Turner Harris, Elli Turner, Jagor Turner, Brecken Harris, Brighton Harris, Dru Turner, Ethan Turner, Rhett Turner, London Turner, Quin Turner, Kaylin and Rocky Ford, Cassie and Rebecca Sesto; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Vera Lee was preceded in death by her parents, C.C. and Mary Coyle; husband, Martin L. Turner; 6 sisters, Velma Dickenson, Verna Compton, Viola Holmes, Virginia Ketcham, Velva Jo Robertson and Venus Worsham; 1 daughter-in-law, Nina Turner; and her father and mother-in-law, John and Lena Turner. Services at First Baptist Church, Friday, 10:00 am, May 24, 2013, Geary, OK. Officiating Rev. Adam Turner and Rev. Jim Nance. Burial at Geary Cemetery, Geary, OK, services under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Geary, Oklahoma.
