Obituary Condolences

McCall, Sr. Oct 11, 1921 - Aug 24, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY William Whitley McCall, Sr. was born on October 11, 1921, to Troy Beatty McCall & Mildred Turner McCall in Covington, Tennessee. He passed peacefully from this earth into heaven on August 24, 2013. He graduated from Byars Hall High School in Covington and graduated from Tulane University Medical School in 1945. He was a physician in rural Alabama, serving a population that had not previously had access to a doctor. He was also in administrative medicine for the Veterans Administration in Little Rock, Arkansas, until his retirement. Dr. McCall was married in 1949 to Marjorie Durham, who was the mother of his children. He was also married for 34 years to the great love of his life, Dimple Campbell McCall. For many years, he was a faithful member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Since moving to Oklahoma City in February of 2007, he has attended St. John's Episcopal Church. Dr. McCall is survived by his daughter, Lissa McCall Wright, and her husband, Bill Wright. He is also survived by his son, Whit McCall, and his wife, JoAnna McCall. Grandchildren surviving him are Melissa Hayes and husband Jeremy Hayes, Turner Wright, Will McCall, and John McCall. Great-grandson, Carter Hayes, also survives him. He also leaves nieces and nephews, Joann Williams, Karen and James Parsley, Sandy Campbell, Melinda and Jay Brown, Bob and Patti Airoldi, Mark and Brandy Sober, and Joseph and Christy Parsley. In addition, Dr. McCall is survived by special cousins, Jimmy McCall, Bruce Gray, and James Kelly. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; his niece and nephew, Kathy Sober and Reed Campbell. Our dad was a true "gentle man" with a loving heart, bright blue eyes, and an infectious smile. We would like to thank Maureen Cavanaugh for her dedication to his care these last two years, and in addition, Dr. Bronwyn Woods for her excellent care, as well as Cynthia Tryon, Vicki Concha, Hannah Enu and Good Shepherd Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Guild of St. George, United Methodist Circle of Care, or the . Viewing will be from noon until 9 p.m. Monday at Mercer-Adams. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, August 27 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 5401 N. Brookline. Burial will be on Saturday, August 31, 2 p.m. at Rest Hills Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation will be at Roller Owens Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
