WILLIAM SCHMEH Obituary
SchmehNov. 4, 1977 - June 29, 2013 EDMOND William (Bill) Jacob Schmeh passed away on June 29, 2013 at his home in Edmond after a courageous fight with cancer. Bill was born on Nov. 4, 1977 in Philadelphia, PA. Bill was a 1996 graduate of Edmond Memorial High School and graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a BA in Government and Politics in 1999. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps where he served for five years with the 1st Radio Battalion Marine Force Pacific, stationed in Pensacola, FL and Kaneohe Bay, HI. After completing his military service, Bill returned to Edmond and earned a Bachelor's of Arts in History Education at the University of Central Oklahoma. Bill spent nearly five years teaching History and Economics at middle and high schools in Tucson, AZ. He began his teaching career at Apollo Middle School and was instrumental in developing Empire High School's Economics curriculum. He was working toward his Master's in Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University. Bill's calling was secondary education and he was respected by both his colleagues and students. When he wasn't teaching and volunteering with various student activities at Empire High School, Bill loved hiking in the Arizona mountains. He was an avid reader, especially all things history-related. Bill is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jacob and Eleanor Feagles, as well as his paternal grandparents, William and Ruth Schmeh. He is survived by and missed dearly by his loving parents, Al and Eleanor Schmeh; a brother, Jonathan of Edmond; sisters, Ellie (Will) Graves of Pittsburgh, PA and Stephanie (Toney) Forga of Yukon. He was Uncle Bill to his nephews Colin and Charles and niece Catherine, and "Baby Forga" due in September. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. In lieu of flowers, the family will be setting up a scholarship in Bill's memory to benefit the most improved student in Economics at Empire High School in Tucson, AZ.
