TOM FIELD Obituary
Dec. 5, 1928 - Sep. 2, 2013 TULSA Tom R. Field passed away September 2, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tom was born December 5, 1928 in Maud, Oklahoma to Frank T. and Lela (Dirickson) Field (deceased). He moved to Oklahoma City in 1935 and attended Herronville Grade School and Jackson Jr. High. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1947. Tom attended the University of Oklahoma and was a lifelong Sooner football fan. He was a season ticket holder for many years and an armchair quarterback after he was unable to attend games. He enlisted in the United States Army and served on active duty for five years and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. He was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War and was a graduate of the Army Officer Candidate School.He married Billie J. O'Daniel in 1951. Tom was a member of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, the Capitol Hill Jaycees and the Masons. He was an avid golfer and loved to play golf with his two sons and his golfing buddies at Hillcrest Country Club. He was for many years the founder and President of Electrigo Corporation which was the statewide distributor of EZ Go Golf Carts. He designed and manufactured one of the first electric vehicles used commercially. He also developed a love for flying and became an instrument rated pilot who enjoyed flying his Cessna Twin Engine airplane.He was preceded in death by an infant daughter who passed away in 1952, his parents and his brother Frank D. Field. He is survived by his wife Billie Jean Field, his three children Thomas Ray Field of Oklahoma City, Emily Field Cary and husband John W. Cary III and Lawrence Daniel Field and wife Cindy Stephenson Field of Tulsa. His greatest joy in life was his eight grandchildren Thomas Maurice Field, Margaret Jean (Field) Crook and husband Jeremy and their daughter Hadley Ann, Courtney Ann Field of Oklahoma City, John W. Cary IV, Lawrence Daniel Field Jr., Andrew Martin Field, Christopher Thomas Cary and Alexander Stephenson Field of Tulsa. He also loved his extended family that he thought of as his own, Judge Kyle B. Haskins, Lori Haskins and their son, Cole B. Haskins of Tulsa.Services will be held Friday, September 6, at 11:00 a.m., in Oklahoma City in the Memorial Chapel of Advantage Funeral Home, 7720 South Pennsylvania Avenue officiated by Dr. Jim Miller, First Presbyterian Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. A private burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery will follow.
