Feb 9, 1929 - Nov 19, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Billy Bedford Harris, 83, passed away November 19, 2012, in OKC, surrounded by his children. Bill was born in Chickasha, OK February 9, 1929, to Elmer and Levia Harris. Bill went to live at Baptist Children's Home in 1934 and stayed there until he was about 14 years old. He served in the Navy for three years and was discharged in April of 1951. Bill was employed by Humpty Dumpty Grocery Stores, where he was a meat cutter. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd; and sisters, Jackie, Dorothy and Patricia. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy (White) Harris; four children, Roger Harris and wife Ladonna, Gay Lynn Gilles and husband Michael, Gary Harris and wife Pamela, and Renee Hicks; eight grandchildren: Kael, Jordan and Rebecca Gilles; Jeffery and Gregory Harris; Ryan Harris; Brandon and Devin Hicks; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Harris, Ikiah Harris, and Zayden Gilles. He is also survived by a brother, LeRoy Harris; two sisters, Molly Weaver and Shirley Alf; a stepbrother, Kenneth W. Harris; and stepsisters, Barbara Colbert and Wanda Handel. Bill was a deacon in the Tulakes Baptist Church and also loved to sing in the choir. He loved camping and taking his kids and grandkids with him. Bill spent the last two and a half years as a patient at Fidelis Memory Care, fighting the ravages of Alzheimer's. We wish to express our thanks to the staff for the excellent care he received and for treating us as family. Viewing will be noon - 9 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany. Services will be on Monday, November 26, 10 a.m. at the Tulakes Baptist Church, Bethany. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Rush Springs Cemetery, OK.
