July 23, 1939 - Feb. 18, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Bobby Dean Callahan, 73, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on February 18, 2013. He was born in Gracemont, Oklahoma, on July 23, 1939 to Orville Callahan and Cleo Lorene Callahan. He attended Anadarko High School before enlisting the U.S. Army, where he served for two years, before he was honorably discharged. He then enlisted with the U.S. Air Force where he served for 22 years. He served in France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Libya, Puerto Rico, and Vietnam. Following retirement from the Air Force, he worked as a Postal Service Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for an additional 20 years. During this time he worked out of the Midwest City, Edmond, and Moore branches. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service on June 30, 2000 with a total of 44 years of federal service. Bobby Callahan was married to Barbara Dean Vanhorn-Callahan for 56 wonderful years. His favorite hobby was bowling, including a perfect game at Tinker AFB. He also played pinochle, liked to travel, and spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bobby was known by his friends and family members for his wonderful sense of humor. He is well loved and will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara of the home; three children, Pamela Dean and husband Timothy Carroll of Smithville, MO, Debbie Lynne and husband Raymond Bahavar of Oklahoma City, OK, Bobby D. Callahan II and wife Frankie of Noble, OK; grandchildren, Steven Johnson and wife Amberlee of Moore, OK, Machelle Johnson of Moore, OK, Samantha Dawn and husband Jacob Sindelir of Colorado Springs, CO, Jillian and husband Justin Herndon, Oklahoma City, OK, Barbara Marie and husband Ryan Reed, Moore, OK, Robert Bahavar, Oklahoma City, OK, Bobby Callahan III, Noble, OK, Cory Callahan, Noble, OK, and Brandi Mayeaux of Moore, OK ; great-grandchildren, Kaedan Herndon, Sorriea Herndon, Carlee Johnson, Ashlee Johnson, Kylee Johnson, and Kale Callahan; sister, Wanda Thompson, Pendleton, IN; brothers, Gary Callahan and spouse Sally of El Reno, OK, and James Callahan of Oklahoma City, OK; along with other family and friends. In memory of Bobby D. Callahan donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or St. Jude. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 23rd, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 Southwest 104th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73139. Chaplain Kerry McClure will be officiating.
