Sep. 16, 1917 - Oct. 2, 2013 DALLAS, TX Frances Wilhelm Shields (Chan), was born in Bartlesville, OK, on Sept. 16, 1917, the third of five daughters to John and Anna Mary Wilhelm. She passed away peacefully in Dallas, TX, on Oct. 2, 2013, with family at her side. Chan was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She lived most of her life in Tulsa after meeting her husband Don Shields who played basketball for the Phillips 66 team. Chan also loved the arts, gardening and decorating. Even while raising six children Chan found time to give back and volunteered many hours at both St. Francis and St. John's Hospitals, St. Charles Guild and Philbrook Art Museum.Chan was preceded in death by her husband Don, her son Donald, and sisters Anna Mary Binkley and Rita Bogle and is survived by her sisters Catherine Linehan and Jean Wilhelm; her daughter, Kathy and husband Daniel Keating of Tulsa; son Drew of OKC and Las Vegas, NV; son Rick and his wife Paula of Branson, MO; son Doug and his wife Marcia of OKC; daughter Beth of Dallas, TX; and daughter-in-law Kay Shields of Tulsa. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Breast Cancer Foundation and Catholic Charities. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, at the Church of St. Mary, 1347 E. 49th Pl., Tulsa, OK 74105. Reception to follow with private internment.
