JOE BORG

April 30, 1927 - March 19, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Joe was born in Corsicana, Texas, to Loes Elliott and Joe Walter Borg. The family later moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma, and then to Oklahoma City. He attended Gatewood Grad School, Taft Junior High and graduated from Classen High School in 1945. He enlisted in the Navy at that time and became a corpsman in the Marines and was later stationed on Parris Island. After the service, he attended Oklahoma City University, where he became a member of Theta Delta Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha. He graduated in 1950 with a BA degree. At OCU, he met Carol Unruh, and they were married in 1950 and were together over 63 years. Joe was an accomplished musician and played drums with several local bands. He later entered into the credit collection business and became President of the Oklahoma Collection Bureau, which he co-founded. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Mary Louise Fudge; and niece, Peggy Warnke. He is survived by his wife; daughters, Becky Persons (Kevin), of California; and Cathy Sanders (David), of Florida; and son, Tom, of Kansas; also, grandchildren, Taylor Corbin (Sarah), of California; Waco Sanders, of Colorado; Jessie Stevens (Ben), of Florida; and Graham Pappas, of Utah; and his great-grandchildren, Noah and Charlotte Stevens. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed summers at their home in Colorado and world travel with Carol, family and many friends. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service. Memorials in his name should be made to charity of donor's choice. HE HAD A GREAT LIFE!
