May 3, 1929 - Nov 11, 2012 NORMAN L.A. Smith, 83, of Midwest City, OK, passed away Nov. 11, 2012. He was born to Lou and Ollie Smith in Konawa, OK. After serving in the Army, L.A. married Lucille Cleveland in Ada, OK on April 10, 1948. They moved to Midwest City that same year. L.A. ran a dry cleaning business for many years before going to work at AT&T. He retired after 22 years. Many knew him by his "Smoky Smith's Famous BarBQ" sauce. L.A. enjoyed cooking out, watching westerns, raising animals and helping others. L.A. was an elder at Daystar Church in Midwest City. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lucille, in 2000; daughter, Charlon Rogers; sister, Avo Rincon; and brothers, Bud and Joe Smith. He is survived by sons: Gary (Cindy) Smith, of Houston; and Greg (Pebbles) Smith, of OKC; daughter, Bridget Smith, of Oregon; sister, Flora Putler of California; granddaughter, Heather Croak; and 10 other grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. L.A. also leaves his friend, Mary Richardson; and many relatives and friends behind. We will miss his smiling face dearly. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
