Oct 2, 1947 - April 16, 2013 NEWALLA Rich Morrissey was born in Huron, South Dakota, on October 2, 1947, to Iris and Tom. He was their only son and a brother to Patty, Jeanne and Kathy. Rich was an inquisitive child with a hands-on approach to learning. His determination to understand the complex and technical world around him made him appear gifted. As an adult, Rich fine-tuned these attributes into a work ethic marked by excellence and integrity. In 1965, he joined the Air Force and dedicated 20 years with distinction to the maintenance, instruction and management of Air Traffic Control Radar systems. After retirement, his expertise led him to take key management roles with supervision of worldwide contracts for the defense industry. Richard took his leisurely pursuits as seriously as his careers. He read daily to stay ahead of current events and technology; he kept a keen interest in politics and valued his civic duty to voice dissent. He also loved to pheasant hunt, taking trips each autumn. Above all, Rich was a family man, and he cherished time spent with family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanne. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rose; his three children, Bryon and wife Natasha, Jennifer, and Liza Dennison and husband Jared Dennison; and his adoring grandchildren, Teagan, Brendan, Alyssa and Kyla. Rich was a mentor to all that knew him, and he will be sorely missed. Services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the family residence.
