February 6, 1924 - February 12, 2013 EDMOND Fortified with the Sacraments, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Loving son of (the late) August and Hilda, brother of Gerry, Jack (Beryl) Reisch, Joann (the late Mal) Liebermann, and (the late) Marian Reisch. Dear uncle of Sharon (Peter) Thompson, John Liebermann, Mary Liebermann, Ann (Ken) Eglinsdoerfer, Mal (Kerrianne) Liebermann, Jim (Janell) Reisch, and Susan (Jeff) Spurr.Roger was born February 6, 1924 in St Louis, MO to August and Hilda Reisch. He completed grade school and high school in St Louis before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific during World War II and attained the rank of Tech Sergeant (Gunnery). He was briefly recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict, instructing new Marines on the use of battlefield radar.After his service in the Marine Corps, Roger attended college at the University of Dayton, where he earned a degree in History and English. After graduation, he joined the National Park Service and remained there until his retirement, 39 years later in 1998. He worked in many of the nation's National Parks, but spent most of his career in the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Roger was instrumental in the initial cataloguing, setup and preparation of the park to be accepted into the National Park system. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, mentored and guided in his years at the park. He will be sorely missed by his family and all his lifelong friends from his West Texas days.Memorial Mass Thursday, February 21, 7:30am at St. Monica Church, 2001 N. Western Ave., Edmond, OK.
