May 12, 1971 - April 6, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Tammie Jean McCary ended her journey on earth on April 6, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her family and loved ones, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Tammie was born May 12, 1971, in Augusta, Georgia, to Brenda McCary Dyess and the late Billy McCary. Tammie lived her passion as a bartender at the Painted Desert, Varsity Bricktown, and Interurban in Oklahoma City. Tammie loved everyone and her OU Sooners. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy McCary; her grandparents, RW Banks and Thelma Ouzts, of Saluda, South Carolina, and William I. and Mable McCary. She is survived by her parents, Brenda and Ricky Dyess; uncle, Jimmy Banks, of Saluda, South Carolina; brother, Vernon McCary, children, Michael and Brandon, of Oklahoma City, Kama, Gavin and Ashton, of Columbia, South Carolina; sister, Pam Gray, children, Melissa Chaffin, of Harrah, Oklahoma, Nick, of Oklahoma City, and Eric, of Shawnee, Oklahoma. In closing, the family would like to thank for all the love and support of all the relatives and close friends of Tammie that were here for them through this difficult time. We know Tammie meant a lot to each and every one of them. Tammie wants everybody to wear the ovarian awareness color, which is teal green; that was her wish. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK, Interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, OK.
