Walter Cooper

December 3, 1924 - April 2, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Dr. Walter R. Cooper, 87, passed away at home on Monday, April 2, 2012. Walter was born on December 3, 1924 in Mount Calm, Texas and was the son of Walter and Loretta Cooper. He was a long time dentist and resident of Oklahoma and became the 2nd practicing Periodontist in Oklahoma City. He was a Veteran of World War II and serviced honorably in the Army Air Corp in the Southwest Pacific. Using the GI Bill he received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and his advanced degree from Baylor University. His many friends, family, and associates remember him as a kind and generous man who loved computers and was an avid golfer. Walter is survived by his wife, Peggy Cooper, his daughter, Kathleen Odenthal who remembers the many trips they took. He also is survived by his step-daughter, Danna Pippin and several grandchildren, Scott Odenthal, Susan Bell, Holly Bower, Griff Pippin, Hayley Brown and her husband Kirk Brown as well as several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David Randall Cooper, and his step-daughter, Connie Bauer. Memorial services will be at 10 am on Thursday, April 5, at Smith & Kernke Chapel. His family request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Epworth Benevolence Fund in memory of Walter R. Cooper.
