BabbSept. 14, 1929 - July 28, 2014 NEWCASTLE Iris Colleen Ballentine Babb passed to that city not made with hands, eternal in the heavens on July 28, 2014. She took her wit and her compassion for others quietly after a val-iant battle with pancreatic cancer to be with her Lord and Master. Colleen was born in Shidler, Oklahoma on September 14, 1929 to James Carl Ballentine and Laura McClain Ballentine and was married to Ray Keith Babb, Jr. on December 21, 1947. She was a proud member of the Bowlegs High School Alumni Association and after attending several semesters at Phillips University, eventually graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Her love of God and service to the church led her to be a charter member and Elder of Disciple Christian Church, Newcastle, Oklahoma. Throughout her life Colleen was a teacher, law office manager and legal assistant. She was an active member in several Masonic orders being a 65 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving in many offices along the way including Worthy Matron of two chapters and was honored to serve as Grand Electa in 1998. She was also a member of the Order of Amaranth, Daughters of the Nile, the White Shrine of Jerusalem and was a charter member of the Order of the Sacred White Buffalo. She was recognized for her help as Mother Advisor for Capitol Hill Assembly of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls with the Grand Cross of Color. She was Chapter Mom for Myrtle Chapter Order of DeMolay and a Cub Scout Den Mother. One of her favorite pastimes was to play bridge with her bridge club for over 45 years and more recently meeting on Tuesdays with the Donut Dolly's. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray, her parents, her brothers, J.C. Ballentine, Jr., and Sterling Neeley, her sister, Beth Wagner and son-in-law, Jody Brumfield. She is survived by her children Charles and his wife Jennifer Babb (Edmond), Dr. Michael and his wife Dr. Tamie Babb (Nashville, TN) and Lisa Brumfield (Enid); 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on August 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Disciple Christian Church, Newcastle, Oklahoma (at the intersection of Highways 76 and 37) along with an OES Memorial Service; interment will be at the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are made by the John Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, Oklahoma.
