Schneider March 13, 1951 - Dec 15, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY JR Schneider is now experiencing health and wholeness in the presence of our Lord. After he valiantly battled Leukemia (AML) for the past year, he died December 15, 2012, in Oklahoma City. John R. "JR" Schneider, 61, was born March 13, 1951, in Connersville, IN. JR moved to Oklahoma City in 1978 to attend Oklahoma City University School of Law, earning his JD in 1983. JR was a founding member of the Workers' Compensation Defense Council, his area of specialization. He served as Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Chief Attorney at the Oklahoma State Insurance Fund before joining Pierce Couch Hendrikson Law Firm in 1999. Prior to Law School, he had graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1973 with a degree in Communications/ Cinema & Photography and in 1975, earned a Master's degree in Occupational/Vocational Education, specializing in curriculum design. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and was active with the TV Ministry, utilizing his love of photography. JR was an avid car enthusiast. He was a lifetime member of the BMW Car Club of America. For many years, he organized the annual Oktoberfest for the national club. He helped organize and support the local Sunbelt Chapter. He had attended the Indy 500 every year since the age of 12. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond E. Schneider; and his mother, Martha J. Schneider. Survivors include his wife, Cindy, of the home. He is also survived by sisters: Karen Kanitz and spouse Bob, of Ohio; Sara Denow and spouse Bill, of Connecticut; and Paula Weirich, of Colorado; Aunt Julia Yake and spouse Bill, Connersville, IN; nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's TV Ministry, Skyline Urban Ministries, or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Thoughtfully consider donating blood to the Oklahoma Blood Institute. A memorial service to celebrate JR's life will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at St. Luke's UMC.
