SpencerJan 2, 1924 - March 8, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Josephine "Josie" Spencer, born in Meadow, TX to Tom and Essie Schafer, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Josie moved to OKC in Dec. 1938 and graduated from Capitol Hill H.S. in 1941. She joined Wilmont Place Baptist Church after moving to OKC and remained active until her passing. For 37 years, Josie worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., presently known as AT&T. She then worked six years for the State Senate Post Office in the State Capitol. Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jack "Bud" Spencer (OKC Fire Dept.); her father and mother, Tom and Essie Schafer; sister, Marjory Presson; and brother, Bobby "Glenn" Schafer. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine McKinney, Rochester, WA; sister-in-law, Esther Schafer, OKC; son, Steve Spencer and wife Toni, OKC; daughter, Beverly Wolf and husband Ron, Yukon, OK; grandson, Todd Spencer and wife Becky, Yukon, OK; granddaughter, Melissa and husband Travis Grim, of Pauls Valley, OK; granddaughter, Amy and husband Don Holland, of Piedmont, OK; step-granddaughter, Kenda Baily, Moore; also 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and five nieces, six nephews, and many friends. Viewing will be at the funeral home, 4-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with family greeting friends on Saturday, 4-6 p.m. Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Vondel Smith's South Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Danny Frazee officiating. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sunny Lane Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenyon Bush officiating.
