Obituary Condolences

July 11, 1937 - January 7, 2013 MOORE Virgil Ronald Horn, of Moore, OK, passed away January 7, 2013 at home due to complications from multiple illnesses. He was 75 years old. Ronnie was born July 11, 1937 in Holdenville, OK to Virgil and Wynona (LaValley) Horn. He graduated from Pauls Valley High School, Class of 1955. He was involved in Boy Scouts and FFA. He then attended Murray State College. Ronnie married his loving wife Sally Taylor on February 10, 1956. After marrying, he and Sally attended East Central University in Ada, OK. Together they raised two sons, Hoby and Jeff. Ronnie had a long career in the oilfield. He worked for Bovaird Supply, Cameron Iron Works, and Shaffer Tool before joining partners Bob Ferguson and Bill Laird, both of Houston, TX to begin their own company, Control Flow in 1975. Ronnie's love of horses seemed to begin at birth. He received his first mare at age 10 which he told of riding all over Hughes County. In 1948 his family moved to Pauls Valley, OK and he picked up his first rope. He and a friend began a trick roping act which they performed at rodeos. They wore fancy shirts and bright red boots. He loved all things about horses and cowboys and his recollections and stories were as colorful as those red boots. Ronnie raised and raced Quarter horses in early 1980's. Gathering family and friends for a day at the races was nearly as much fun for him as winning a race at Ada or Sallisaw. After racing horses for many years Ronnie picked up a heading rope and in 1985 began team roping. He made many great friends in the roping arena. Ronnie was also successful at raising a few great performances horses. The highlight of those efforts was winning the AQHA World Champion Title with horses that he had foaled and raised on his farm. Ronnie and Sally moved their family to Moore, OK in 1963. When his boys began playing little league ball he became very involved in the Moore Sooner Association. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his boys play ball from little league to college. Ronnie was a longtime member of Oakcrest Church of Christ. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Wynona (LaValley) Horn; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Jeweldean (Whitlock) Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife, Sally (Taylor) Horn, of the home; son, Hoby and wife Anita Horn of Oklahoma City; son, Jeff and wife Amy of Norman, OK; six grandchildren, Mandy and Ty Kincannon, Haley and Tommy Noles, Natalie and Chance Baker, all of Moore, OK, Hobie, Hayden and Hadley Horn, all of Norman, OK; five great grandchildren, Emmie and Dax Kincannon, Paisley and Sunny Noles, and Beau Baker, all of Moore, OK; sister and brother-in-law, Janey and Gary Garland of Washington, OK; nephew, Blake Garland and niece, Julie and Joel Uber; many cousins and Larry LaValley, truly the brother in his life.
