Obituary Condolences

Vandenburg Aug 1, 1941 - Jan 4, 2013 EDMOND Dub Vandenburg was born on August 1, 1941. Sadly, he left his life here on earth January 4, 2013. The joy Dub brought to so many through his music and his kindness will be greatly missed. Dub took great pride in being a Vietnam Veteran. He served two tours there while he was in the United States Navy. He retired from OU Medical Center after 28 years. Dub was a wonderful father and avid sports fan, excellent musician and exemplary man. Of late, his happiest times were those spent with his family, playing guitar in the band, watching sports, driving his refurbished 1956 Chevy, traveling, and fishing. There are many, many people who have been privileged and proud to call Dub "friend." Most who knew him will say they never saw him get angry, nor did they ever hear him speak unkindly about or to anyone. Dub was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jess O. Vandenburg & Sylvia Vandenburg; father, Albert S. Vandenburg; mother, Maggie Cordell; brothers, Jess Vandenburg, Jack Vandenburg, and Johnnie Cordell; and sister, Merle Vandenburg Kuykendall. He is survived by son, Joseph Vandenburg; stepson, M.G. Govia; stepdaughter, Shannon Fomby & husband Joe; grandson, Joseph Vandenburg Jr.; great-grandson, Joseph Vandenburg III; granddaughters, Ella Fomby and Nevaeh Vandenburg; brother, Eddie Vandenburg & wife Jean; sister, Lucy Combs; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral ceremonies will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. To share condolences.
