Obituary Condolences

April 4, 1924 - February 24, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Carl E. Madison, 88, loving husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Bowie, Texas. Service: 10 A.M. Saturday, March 2, at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 3100 N. Rockwell Ave., Bethany, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Yukon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mercer Adams Funeral Home at 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, Oklahoma. Carl was born April 4, 1924, in Nauvoo, Walker County, Alabama, to George (Ernie) and Tempie Madison. Carl married Dorothy Lee on August 26, 1942 and in the year 2012 they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Carl served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943-1944. Carl went to work in 1949 as a Civil Service employee with the US government, serving on two US Air Force Bases retiring in 1982 from Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Carl was a man of faith who led by example and was a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene. We will miss his kind, humble spirit and compassion for others and we will cherish his memory always. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dewel K. Madison; two sisters, Verniece Ledbetter and Martha Ann Madison. Survivors: Wife, Dorothy Madison of Bowie, Texas; son, Stan Madison and wife Barrie of Sunset, Texas; daughter, Teresa Adams and husband Ken of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters, Audrey Bennett of Cummings, Georgia, Reba Madison of Daphne, Alabama, Anna Horton and husband Terry of Daphne, Alabama; grandchildren, Shazon McKinney and husband John of Prairie Village, Kansas, Daphne Gafford and husband Mark of Prairie Village, Kansas, Charissa Madison of Grand Prairie, Texas, Brandon Madison of Grand Prairie, Texas; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
