Nov. 17, 1952 - Mar. 11, 2017 GUTHRIE Darlene Aniol was born November 17, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Robert and Patricia Aniol. She died in her home in Guthrie, Oklahoma on March 11, 2017.Darlene attended grade school in Oklahoma City. When she was 12, her family moved to Guthrie. During high school, she was the Wrestling Junior Attendant and was an active member of Vocal Club, Future Homemakers of America, Future Business Leaders of America and the Honor Society. She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1971. After high school, Darlene attended and graduated from nursing school and became a Registered Nurse. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse, a medical surgery nurse and became one of the first Certified Emergency Room Nurses in the VA Hospital. She also spent time in nursing education and management. She was a leader in her field and was dedicated to her profession. She continued her education and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.Darlene had many hobbies including vegetable gardening, brush hogging on her farm and traveling in her travel trailer to places like Keystone Lake, South Padre Island and the mountains of Colorado. She quilted blankets for all of her grandbabies. She loved cooking and entertaining for her family, and going to the casino occasionally. On her farm, Darlene raised cattle, hogs, chickens, and had horses, Smokey the Donkey and many dogs and cats throughout the years. For several years, Darlene was a dedicated member of Sweet Adelines - an organization of women singing barbershop harmony.With her first husband, Charley Swanson, she had two children, Candy Rae and Kristen Beth. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Candy Staring and husband Kevin; daughter, Kristen Stehr and son-in-law Adam; grandchildren, Connor Akins, McKenna Stehr, Kael Staring and Brandon Johnson; great-grandchild, Braylen; brother, Ralph Aniol and wife Margaret; sister, Kathleen Treanor and husband Mike; nephews, Keith Aniol and David Treanor and nieces, Crystal Aniol and Kassidy Treanor.Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia Aniol, her brother, James Michael Aniol, nephew, Zachary, niece, Ashley, and great-nephew, Anthony.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 17, 2017, at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.Visitation will be held Thursday, 11:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.Friends may sign the online guestbook at www.smithgallo.com
