1951 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Martin, II October 20, 1951 - February 28, 2018 EDMOND, OKLAHOMA Born October 20, 1951, to David and Marguerite Martin of Chattanooga, Oklahoma. Dave was a very active member of the Chattanooga Future Farmers of America. From an early age he participated in local, county and state livestock shows winning Grand Champion on many occasions. Dave never missed the opportunity to attend and participate in livestock contest. Although a cowboy at heart, Dave was also a studious bookworm. After graduation from Chattanooga High School in 1969, he went to Cameron University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1973. Dave then went to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where he graduated with a doctorate degree in Physical Chemistry. While at Stillwater he met and ultimately married the love of his life, Jane Steincamp in 1977. From their marriage they had two sons, Justin Linville Martin and Tyler Allan Martin. Dave went on to do post-graduate work and teach at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock and the University of Texas in Austin. Thereafter, Dave and Jane moved to Lawton where he was a professor at Cameron University. They ultimately ended up in Edmond, Oklahoma where Dave was a professor at the University of Central Oklahoma where he remained until he retired. Although diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of four and insulin dependent his entire life, Dave never let this disease be a handicap. He was always an out going and physical individual, more often than not doing things the hard way rather than looking for short cuts. Of his favorite activities would be riding his horse "Star" and working cattle on a hot afternoon. In true cowboy spirit Dave's work was as good as gold. If he told you something he did it. Dave was predeceased by his father, David Linville Martin and his son Tyler Allan Martin. Survivors include his wife, Jane Martin and son Justin, his mother Marguerite Kelly Martin, his sister Eva Ann Sartin and husband Jim, brother Mack K. Martin and wife Vicky, four nephews and nieces, Matthew, Scott, Britney and Amber.
