1930 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
RobertsonApril 21, 1930 - December 19, 2016 OKLAHOMA CITY Dolores June Bourland Robertson, born April 21, 1930, in Britton, OK, to Ted and Marie Brown and passed away on December 19, 2016, in Katy, Texas. Dolores grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Linwood Elementary, Taft Jr. High, and Classen High Schools. On November 28, 1946, she wed H. Lynn Bourland at Linwood Meth-odist Church in Oklahoma City. They lived in Dallas while Lynn attended school before returning to OKC. They owned and operated Bourland Funeral Home in Allen, OK until 1956 when they moved back to Oklahoma City and began a successful insurance agency with State Farm until Lynn passed away in 1982. To this marriage were born Mike, Janis and Bobby. Over the years Dolores was involved in her children's school activities and especially so in the early years of Dale Rogers School and Pauls Valley State School Parents Associations. Later she was active as a volunteer and was president in 1983 for the Deaconess Hospital Auxiliary and as manager of the hospital gift shop.She married Mark Robertson on February 14, 1987, and later retired to their beautiful hilltop home on Lake Ann in Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1993. She was very active in Al-Anon in both Oklahoma City and Arkansas. Mark and Dolores both found their special ministries as leaders in their beloved church home of Bella Vista Community Church. Mark as an AA sponsor with over 50 years in the program and Dolores as a leader and caregiver in the Stephen Ministries. After Mark's passing in 2014 Dolores moved to Houston and enjoyed living at Eagles Trace Senior Living Apartments. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands H. Lynn Bourland and Mark Robertson; son, Robert Alan Bourland; and grandson, Steven M. Bourland. She is survived by her children, Mike and spouse Marty Bourland of Oklahoma City and Janis and spouse Richard Helmey of Katy, Texas, grandchildren, Christopher Bourland, Andrew Helmey and spouse Karin, Megan Helmey, and great grandchildren, Ana Helmey and Ava Helmey; and beloved sister, Norma Townsend, also step-children, Lisa Cloutier, Jerri McGrew and Jeff Williams. She leaves behind many other family members and friends who loved her and mourn her passing.Memorial celebration of life to be 1:00 PM Saturday May 13, 2017, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162 (405) 721-3182. Reception for friends and family following a brief graveside at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
