Obituary Condolences

February 17, 1925 - August 19, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY On August 19, 2013, the Lord welcomed Edna Lee Swindler. Edna was born in 1925 in Redden, Okla. to Elleas & Ada (Morgan) Bond. In 1941, she & her sister attended Chilocco Indian Boarding School. There she met the love of her life & future husband of 67 years, Lewis H. Swindler. Edna was a member of the Choctaw Nation & later attended Haskell Indian Jr. College where she received a business degree. After WWII, she and Lewis settled in Okla. City where Lewis was an Okla. City Police Officer & later an investigator with the Okla. County DA's Office. Edna was a beautiful person, inside and out, a wonderful wife, mother & grandmother. She was active in her church, Mary Lee Clark Indian Methodist, served on the Board of Directors for the Okla. City Native American Center & was also appointed to serve as the Native American Representative for the Human Rights Commission under Mayor Patience Latting. Unfortunately, Edna had suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for 12 years & for the last 4 years had resided at S. Park East in S. Okla. City. The family would like to thank them for caring for their beloved mother & grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lewis, son, James "Jimmy" Lee, age 8, sisters, Esther Lorene Compton, Anita June Bond & brother, Ellis Lee Bond, Jr., she is survived by her children, Esther "Dede" Bointy-Clayton, Patrick Allen and Bobby Wayne Swindler, grandchildren, Joseph Ellis Bointy & Samantha Brianne Bointy, Patrick Lewis, Lucas Wayne, Brandy & Britni Swindler, & 8 great-grandchildren.
