Obituary Condolences

Aug 17, 1937 - Dec 23, 2012 MERCEDES, TX Gale took his final flight, this one to Heaven, on the day before Christmas Eve, departing this life after a lengthy battle with cancer. A graduate of Central High School in Oklahoma City, Gale was President of the Senior class of 1955. His outgoing personality, great sense of humor and skill on the dance floor made Gale a popular guy and good friend to be around. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, where he excelled and was chosen for training to be a fighter pilot. After duty flying from carriers, Gale served as a flight instructor, attaining the rank of Lieutenant before leaving the Navy and moving to Atlanta, GA. There, he began a career in the banking service business, a field that took him to Tokyo, and then to Hong Kong, where he ultimately retired. Upon his return to America, Gale bought a truck and mobile home and toured the western areas of the U.S. before settling in Mercedes, TX. His years there gained him many friends, some of whom were at his side during his fight for life. Gale is survived by his son, Lt. Col. Lane Turner, and his wife, Christi, and their three daughters, of Vine Grove, KY; his daughter, Tracey Reidy, her husband, Curt, and their two sons, of Lawrenceville, GA; and brother, Randy Turner, and his wife, Pam, of California. Gale was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Turner; and by his second wife, Terumi. A memorial service and the scattering of the ashes of Gale and his canine companion, Kuma, are planned for next spring at the farm in Mercedes, where they lived. Alex and Diane Hamilton
