Jan 11, 1934 - May 23, 2013 KINGSTON Herman Louis "Lou" Niedens, 79, of Kingston, OK, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the hospital in Durant, OK. He was born Jan. 11, 1934, in Russell County, KS to the late Rudolph Niedens & Nathalia "Dollie" Dumler Niedens. Lou was raised in Russell County and attended Hoisington High School in Hoisington, KS. He later graduated from Concordia Lutheran College in Seward, NE. He married Linda Darlene Bessell (Hoover) on Dec. 29, 1990, in Moore, OK. Lou joined the United States Marine Corps and served from Feb. 16, 1954, to Dec. 21, 1956. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, coaching and playing baseball. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hoover, Kingston, OK; children, Bret Niedens, Camarillo, CA; Vicki Nowaczyk, Scottsdale, AZ; Rick Niedens, of California; and Gail Niedens, Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren; brothers, Robert Niedens & wife Pat, Park City, KS; Don Niedens & wife Dorothy, Great Bend, KS; and sister, Bernice Deines, Hoisington, KS. Lou was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Paul and Gale Niedens; and one brother-in-law, Robert Deines. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Youth College Fund (580- 924-9907) or the Wounded Warrior Project. Services will be Monday, May 27, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, Durant, OK. Pastor Craig Scavo will officiate the services.
