July 3, 1929 - October 30, 2011 MOORE Funeral services for Hoyt Donald Dorough, 82, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore.The son of Hoyt Ambus and Anna Lee Snider Dorough, he was born July 3, 1929 in Oklahoma City and passed away October 30, at the Veterans hospital in Oklahoma City.Hoyt graduated from Ardmore High School and worked alongside his father as a cab driver. He and the former Doris Jean Wood were married December 19, 1947 in Gainesville, Texas. He joined the United States Army in 1949 as a combat medic, serving tours in Korea and Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star Medal twice for heroism. He retired in 1974 as a First Sergeant after 25 years of active duty. He then worked in the private sector for several years before going to work at Tinker AFB as a jet engine mechanic until 1992.He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Doris, of the home; daughter, MSG, Ret., U.S. Army Phyllis Dorough-Barker of Moore, OK; son, Maj, Ret., USAF Donald Dorough, Austin, TX; son, CMSgt, Ret., OK ANG Ronald Dorough and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, OK; son, Capt, Ret., US Army Timothy Dorough and wife Cindy of Rowlett, TX; daughter, LTC Marsha Dorough and husband Rene Paniagua of San Antonio, TX; and daughter, Patricia Horton and husband Jeffery of Moore, OK; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.
