JERRY JOHNSON Obituary
Sept. 24, 1934 - June 28, 2018 MOORE Jerry G. Johnson, 83, Moore, OK, the love of Charlene's life for 63 years, 10 months, 21 days, went to be with our Lord June 28, 2018. He was born Sept. 24, 1934, to Claude and Alda Johnson, of Alamogordo, NM. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Johnson; three children, Sherral DeWitt & husband Ernie; Jerry E. Johnson & fiancee Annette Collier; and Randall Johnson & life partner Martin Soebbing; six grandchildren, Amy Clymer & husband Stephen, April Treadwell, Michelle Ashley & husband John, and Melissa Johnson; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Alda Johnson; two brothers; four sisters; and three grandchildren, Michael E Johnson, Miranda K Johnson, and Kandace H Hill. Jerry was a devoted truck driver for Lee Way Motor Freight for 16 years. From there, he hauled cars for Jack Cooper for 12 years until he retired in Oct. of 1996. Jerry also served our nation as a veteran on Feb. 17, 1953, and served in the Korean War on the USS Alvin C. Cockrell until the war ended on July 27, 1953. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy on Feb. 7, 1957. Jerry loved his family. His favorite thing to do was to cook on the grill for his family and spend time with everyone. He never met a stranger and everyone loved to hear his stories of his growing up as a little boy. He loved watching Western movies, football and the Thunder games. He still washed their vehicles by hand if he could. He never took them to a car wash. He enjoyed doing his own yard work. He wouldn't hire anyone to do his yard work; he wanted it done his way. He was loved by all who met him and will be missed by many family and friends. Services are at Sunny Lane Funeral Home Chapel Monday, July 2, 10 a.m. Burial at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
