JOANN LANDRUM Obituary
Oct. 28, 1933 - Sept. 8, 2017 MUSTANG JoAnn Starr Landrum, of Mustang, OK, passed away on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Mercy Hospital at the age of 83. Joann was born on Oct. 28, 1933, to Jose and Inez Starr and was proud of her Cherokee heritage. She graduated high school from Kansas, OK at the young age of 16 and entered college early at Bacone College, formerly Bacone Indian University, located in Muskogee. While there, she met her future husband, David M. Landrum. JoAnn went on and obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in business education from University of Central Oklahoma. She was an excellent teacher and was a professor at Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) until her retirement. She was named an Outstanding Alumni from Bacone and inducted into the Bacone Alumni Hall of Fame. She also received the Elwin Gray Award from OCCC for going the extra mile for students and the college and for "service above and beyond." She continued to work part time after retirement for OCCC and other jobs in order to keep her busy. She enjoyed going to the casino, traveling with her friend, Ed Matthews, and having lunch with the WOB (Women of Business) group. She loved babysitting, her iPhone photos, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called her Nanny. She will be sadly missed by her brother, Kenneth David Starr & wife Betty; children, David M. Landrum Jr. & wife Patricia and Karen Landrum Young & husband Brett; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; along with many cousins, great- nieces and nephews. Joann was predeceased by brothers, James, Dennis, and Wayne; and ex-husband, David M. Landrum. Services are at McNeil's Funeral Home in Mustang Sept. 13, 2017, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City. Online condolences may be made to www.mcneilsfuneral.com
