Obituary Condolences

March 21, 1937 - November 28, 2013 MIDWEST CITY John Davis Martindale was born to Curtis and Amy Ruth Martindale on March 21, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013, in Midwest City, OK, after a brief illness with pancreatic cancer. John graduated from Classen High School in 1955. John kept in touch with his classmates and continued to serve on the Board of Directors of the Classen High School Alumni Association. During John's career as a wholesale representative with Bridgestone/Firestone Tires covering parts of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Missouri, John met and kept in touch with many friends and acquaintances. John was a very active member at the Midwest City Elk's Lodge where he served as the Exalted Ruler from 2001-2003 and continued serving as a trustee. Additionally, he hosted karaoke at the Elk's Lodge, was an avid square dancer, bowler, and enjoyed many vacations with his special friend, Delores Chambers, whom he met in 2008. John will always be remembered for his thoughtfulness, kindness, love of Western movies (especially "Shane"), Country singers George Strait and Willie Nelson, and as one of the loudest Oklahoma Sooner football fans while in the stands or watching on TV. If you ever heard a big "WOOHOO" at the stadium you could almost bet it was John. John lived a very active life and always could make a friend out of a complete stranger. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 16 years Lois (2007) and his brother William (2009). He is survived by his two sons: John Davis Martindale, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK and Jeffery Martindale of Redondo Beach, California; his sister: Ruth Ann and husband Dr. W. Stephen Gunter of Durham, North Carolina; sister-in-law: Patty Martindale of Piedmont, OK; two stepsons: Terry and wife Marta Head of Choctaw, OK and Larry and wife Angie Head of Choctaw, OK. He will also be fondly remembered by his 6 grandsons: T.J., Christopher, Zachary, Tyler, J.R., and Matthew along with his 4 great grandsons and also by many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., in the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service, 315 S. Sooner Road, Midwest City, OK.
