Obituary Condolences

June 6, 1933 - July 19, 2012 BETHANY Maxwell Earl Cowherd, age 79, resident of Bethany, Oklahoma, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, after a brief illness. He was born on June 6, 1933, in Weleetka, Oklahoma. He was an integral part of his church, serving God in many ways for more than 50 years. His relationship to God was reflected in every aspect of his life. Max worked for a short time at OG&E before taking a job at the Western Electric (AT&T/ Lucent) plant and moving his new family to Oklahoma City. He served on WEOKIE's Board of Directors, volunteering his expertise since 1980 as WEOKIE Credit Union Board Member, Director Emeritus, Board Chairman and Vice-Chairman. Prior to his election to the board, Max also served on WEOKIE's Supervisory Committee from 1975-1980. He was retired from AT&T as a Supervisor in Network Switchwork Manufacturing after 33 years. Max was also past president of Local IBEW Local 2021. Max is survived by his wife of 60 years, Flora Mae Cowherd; by his children, Daniel and Robyn Cowherd, Vernon and Sharon Cowherd, and Neva Taber. Max also has seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made to Calvary Bible Fellowship, Oklahoma City, OK. Family will greet friends Sunday, July 22 from 4-6 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, Bethany, OK. Celebration of Max's life will be held Monday, July 23 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Bible Fellowship, 6606 N.W. 16th, Oklahoma City, OK, with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
