1929 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
April 27, 1929 - March 15, 2017 YUKON Norman Roy Rollins was born to Jemyma E. (Prophet) and William Roy Rollins at Buffalo, OK on Apr. 27, 1929. He went home to be with the Lord on Wed., Mar. 15, 2017, in Yukon, OK, following a long battle on multiple fronts. He fought with the fierceness and dignity that exemplified his life. The character and positive attitude he displayed throughout the years served as a shining example to all who knew and loved him. He attended Buffalo Schools most of his life, but graduated from Woodward High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force and then attended OU. He was a member of the American Legion Post 160 and a lifetime member of the 43rd Bomb Group, 65th Squadron. Norman was a longtime member of Southern Baptist Churches serving his Lord wherever he lived. He loved his Lord and enjoyed studying and teaching His Word. Each time his job would relocate him to a different city and/or state, the first thing he did was to find a new church home where he could serve the Lord. He loved to fly full size airplanes and he built and flew radio controlled model airplanes. He also enjoyed fishing, reading and creating a pretty yard. Norman was a lifetime Lumberman, serving in varied management positions with LongBell Lumber Co. Later, he was employed and retired from Simpson Timber Co., Seattle, WA, where he served in many management positions in several states. His gift of identifying and appreciating each individual's strengths served him well in both careers. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his daughter, Hollye Jan. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Janice (Jan) Rollins of 64 plus years; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters-in-law and many friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sat., Mar. 18, 2017, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, with interment at 3:00 p.m., at Evergreen Gyp Valley Cemetery, Buffalo, OK.
