RUTH THOMAS Obituary
May 15, 1928 - Sept. 11, 2017 MOORE On September 11, 2017, Ruth Virginia Thomas stepped peacefully into the arms of Jesus. Ruth was born in Dierks, Arkansas to the late Hugh and Josie (Glenn) Griffith. As a young child, Ruth's family moved to Mountain Pine, Arkansas where she attended Mountain Pine High School. As a devoted mother and wife, Ruth would travel to many cities and states during and after World War II, as she followed her husband and his career. In 1963, she settled in Moore, Oklahoma with her husband and 3 sons and also became a member of the 1st United Methodist Church. Although she held various careers in the Oklahoma City and Moore area, she will be best remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Ruth was an amazing homemaker, cook, and immaculate housekeeper. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family during the holidays and throughout the year. She is survived by her three sons, Terry and Regina Gay, Rick Gay and Judy Fox, and Keith and Penny Gay; her sister, Gladys and David Smith; brother, Bob and Norma Griffith; and sister-in-law, Geneva Griffith; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Thomas; brother, Hugh Griffith, Jr.; sister, Louise Rutledge; daughter-in-law, Michelle Gay; and grandson, Joshua Gay. The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice and Grace Living Center Brookwood for their kindness and support. Funeral services for Ruth will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Moore. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home.
