SHERMAN RITCHIE Obituary
Oct. 10, 1928 - March 16, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY Sherman Ritchie was born Oct. 10, 1928, at his home on a farm 13 miles S.W. of Hobart, OK in Kiowa County, the son of O.L. & Nora (Trammell) Ritchie. He passed from this life March 16, 2017, in Midwest City, OK at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 6 days. He was a 1942 graduate of Romulius High School in McComb. He moved to Western Oklahoma in 1945. He was appointed preacher at the Epworth Methodist Church, Mangum, in 1948. In 1949, he moved to Oklahoma City. He went to work for Mistletoe Express in 1950, serving over 40 years. During that time, he was awarded with numerous safe driving awards and salesman of the year. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite and the Odd Fellows. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He met the love of his life, Ethel Middleton, in 1957, and they shared 49 years together serving Christ. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ethel; brother, Thurman Cordell Ritchie; and sisters, Jewell Lorain Jackson and Nora Fay Walker. He is survived by his children, Jo Polley, Earl Ritchie, and Gail Bradley; brother, Herman Lee Ritchie; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017, from 1 to 4 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 20, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Sunny Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
