"Randy" PutmanOct 16, 1957 - July 1, 2014 NORMAN Randy was born in Oklahoma City to Herman Junior and Joyce (Burns) Putman, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, LaRue; children, Jessika & husband Chad Rose, Destiny Putman, Benjamin Putman, and Eric Putman; his grandchildren, Taylor and Karder Rose; sister, Kathy Sunday Harris; nephew, Matthew Sunday; and niece, Sara and Israel Smith. Randy accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 15. Through the years, he served the Lord at Southern Temple Baptist Church, Hilltop Baptist Church, Grace Place Baptist Church, and Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Randy was very talented, playing guitar and piano as well as singing. In the early `80s, he, along with Jim Higgs and Terry Watts, conducted a live radio ministry in Oklahoma City. It was during this time that Randy wrote the song, "Sweet, Sweet Jesus." He was employed by Billy Graham Ministries 1982-83 during the evangelistic campaign in Oklahoma City. Randy was a four-time Golden Gloves Boxing Champion for the region during his teen years, having been trained by his dad. He later became a jockey, racing winning horses throughout the United States, often with his parents in tow. He said he moved out at the age of 17, but Junior and Joyce moved with him to many of the race tracks. Randy was employed for many years as a machinist with Crowl Machine Company in Oklahoma City. Graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5 at Fairview Cemetery, 16219 S. Douglas Blvd., Oklahoma City. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, OK.
