George Roach Obituary
George Ray Roach was born in Kay County, Oklahoma on March 17, 1936, to John & Ethel Roach. He passed from this life on the night of Sunday, March 21, 2010 in Norman, Oklahoma. George spent most of his early life in the Braman and Blackwell, Oklahoma area. He served his country in the US Army from 1961 to 1963 in the 501 Military Intelligence attached to the 1st Armored Division. George spent his life working in the oil and gas industry. He started working with his father on drilling rigs in the Oklahoma and Kansas Oilfields when he was young. He worked for the National Supply Company and later opened his own oilfield supply stores in Blackwell and Oklahoma City called Lancer Supply Company. He also owned and operated Heath Oil Company. He was a member of the Blackwell Masonic Lodge #109 and was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Guthrie Scottish Rite. George suffered a major stroke in 1995 which forced him to close his business and give up his favorite games of golf and pool. It did not, however force him to give up his friends at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club with whom he still enjoyed playing gin and bridge with for years. George also enjoyed playing dominos and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play. George was preceded in death by his parents John and Ethel Roach and his sister Betty (Roach) Talley. He is survived by his ex-wife and friend Patsy Roach of Washington, Oklahoma, brother Jim Roach of Blackwell, Oklahoma, sister Marilyn (Roach) Grace of Ottawa, Kansas, daughters Cathy (Roach) Stoops and her husband Don of Mulhall, Oklahoma, Kristi (Roach) Brown and her husband Hershel of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Donna Walcott of Wayne, Oklahoma, son Heath Roach and his wife Angel of Washington, Oklahoma, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Services will be held 10 AM Thurs., March 25, 2010, at the South Colonial Chapel. Committal services will follow at 3 PM at the Branam Cem. in Branam, OK.
