Enrique Calle Obituary
Enrique A. Calle, M.D., F.A.C.C.April 26, 1953 - May 9, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Enrique went to his eternal home on May 9, 2011. Enrique was born in Lima, Peru on the 26 of April, 1953, to General Arturo and Sonia Calle, and is the oldest brother to Luis Felipe and his sister Maria Cecilia Calle. Enrique had three sons, Christian, Erik, & Steven and a daughter, Nicole, whom he loved very much as well as his nephews. He is also survived by Monica, his beloved wife. Enrique was as dedicated to his wife, children, his family, community and country, as he was to his profession, personally caring for each individual patient as if they were his own family. Enrique was a humble, self sacrificing man who was always willing to help anyone, regardless of the situation and always willing to put others before himself. He always found humor in even the direst of circumstances, and was a person whose wisdom and judgment could be trusted without question. He lived for the outdoors, and was a man who would constantly pursue fun and adventure, whether traveling around the world, snowboarding in Colorado, wakeboarding, SCUBA diving or following his passion for thoroughbreds. Enrique was very thoughtful and generous. Enrique built a successful and prestigious medical career stretching from 1979 until 2011, all over the country from New York City, New York, Louisville, Kentucky, Buffalo, New York, Orlando, Florida, Enid, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Nassau, Bahama & Lima, Peru. Dr. Calle was a diplomat of the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases as well as a member of The Board of Interventional Cardiology and was associated with Integris Heart Hospital. No matter where Enrique went, he touched the lives of all those with whom he came in contact with. Not enough can be said about Enrique. He set an example for how the rest of us should live and led by that example. He lived by the principles of hard work, dedication, honesty, and integrity. He was an excellent man, father, husband, friend and physician who could always be counted on. Enrique was very thoughtful and generous. His family and friends will miss him very much and we will always cherish him deeply in our hearts. Enrique would want us, not to mourn him in his death, but to celebrate him in his life. Enrique's legacy is that he loved people, was a fighter, adventurer and a healing physician. "One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye." (The little Prince, Antoine de Saint Exupery). The family will greet visitors on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 5pm-9pm at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Church of the Epiphany of the Lord, 7336 W Britton Rd., OKC. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
