Quantella Coury Obituary
CouryJan 12, 1918 - Feb 9, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Quantella Wehba Coury passed away peacefully into the loving presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 9. "Quinnie" was the fifth of 10 children born to Dahar and Rashida Simon Wehba on January 12, 1918, in Portales, NM. The family moved to OKC in her youth, where she attended Central H.S. She married the love of her life, John Habeeb Coury, on Sept. 8, 1935. They moved to Waynoka, OK and raised four children, owned several businesses together and devoted themselves to the vitality of their community. In 1962, Quinnie and John moved to Perryton, TX. Quinnie was involved in civic activities, including the Pink Ladies of Perryton Hospital. They moved to OKC in 1969 to be nearer to children and grandchildren. She attended St. Elijah Orthodox Christian Church, where she was a member of Ladies' Aid and worked tirelessly on the Annual Bake Sale Committee preparing the delectable menu items. She also served the patients at Mercy Hospital with their volunteer service corps. However, Quinnie's greatest gift was her family - memorable gatherings at holidays, tender words of advice and her healing touch; her remedies were well respected. Her wisdom was valued and appreciated by many. Quinnie was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Dahar and Rashida Wehba; daughter, Jeannette Ackal; sisters, Mary Dakil and Louise Coury; brothers, Dale Wehba, Jack Wehba, Jim Wehba, Ernest Wehba and Ray Wehba; as well as great-granddaughter, Aliya Hefner. She leaves behind her son, Dr. Ameel Sam Coury, and wife, Lynn, and family: Carol and husband, Robert Hefner; Julie Solheim; John D. Coury; and James Coury; son-in-law, Alfred T. Ackal, and children: Mark A. Ackal; Elizabeth and husband, Pat Zachary; Catherine Ackal; and Michelle and husband, Alan Dabdoud; daughter, Sharon Kae Moss, and partner, Dr. Curtis H. Roy, and son, William Coury Moss, and wife, Sarah; daughter, Sue, and husband, Gary B. Homsey, and children: Kristin and Joe Carson; Benjamin Homsey and wife, Wren; and Dr. Anna Homsey; and sisters, Juanita Brown and Thelma Farha. Quinnie also enjoyed the blessing of 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. V. Ramgopal, Dr. John Chaffin and Dr. E.N. Scott Samara, as well as caregivers, Edna Smith and Rose Glazier, for their love and attentiveness. Memorial donations may be made to Flowers That Do Not Wither Fund or Children's Hospital Foundation, 800 Research Parkway, Ste. 150, OKC, OK 73104. Trisagion service was held Saturday at 10 a.m., with Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at Fairlawn Cemetery. The Very Reverend Father John S. Salem, Reverend Father Basil McMurry and Reverend Father Jeremy Davis officiated.
