Obituary Condolences

Nov. 3, 1922 - Jun. 18, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Art Beckner, 89, went to be with our Lord and Savior June 18, 2012. What a great man he was. Dad was a wonderful provider, a truly honorable gentleman, and had a peace about him that will go unmatched. He will be missed by everyone that came into contact with him. Dad was a WWII Veteran. He spent 21/2 years overseas defending our country and was awarded 2 Bronze Stars. Dad retired from W&W Steel and loved and admired everyone there. His passion over the last 15 years was fly fishing for the beautiful rainbow trout at Rockbridge, MO with the infamous Wooleybuggers. It was truly a dream for him and I know he's reeling in a 3 pounder right now. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene; his 3 sisters, Jean, Doris, and Helen; his son, Pat; and his great-grandson, Peyton. Survivors include son Mike and his wife Pat; grandson Michael, wife Carrie, and their son Jacob; grandson Blake, Jennifer, and their daughter Jurnie; granddaughter Kelly and her daughter Alex; Pat's widow Maddy; Janie, dad's longtime lady companion; dad's favorite cousin Sue Marcus, her husband John, and their two daughters Lisa and Linn. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful and compassionate staff at St. Ann's Assisted Living, Quality Life Hospice, and his many friends and family for their prayers over the last few months. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at St. Ann's Chapel followed by an interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Art's memory. Dad led a noble Life and he will be greatly missed. We love you Dad.
