Oct 8, 1927 - Sept 14, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY On September 14, 2012, Richard O. Boggs entered Heaven's race in the streets of gold. He was born October 8, 1927, in Oklahoma City to parents, Harold G. Boggs and Gertrude Munnings Boggs. His devoted wife of nearly 63 years, Kathryn Ann; and two children, Bruce Boggs and wife Rhonda, and Amy Boggs Schleider and husband Reg; survive him. He will be honored graveside at Memorial Park Cemetery, Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at 1:00 in the afternoon. Funeral Service was his career for 50 years, many of which were spent serving at the South Western Avenue location of Vondel L. Smith & Sons Mortuary. During those years, he embraced families with compassion and patience while guiding them during difficult times. His fulfillment was in sharing comfort, compassion and support to those left behind. As a World War II Veteran, he had served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947 on board the Southerland Destroyer, which sailed the South Pacific. He loved the United States of America and was proud to be an enlisted man. He married Kathryn Ann Armstrong in November of 1949. He is also survived by a brother, Harold G. Boggs, Jr., of Oklahoma City; sister, Jane Hastings, of Chula Vista, California; four grandchildren: Ryan Boggs, of St. Peters, Missouri; and Blake Schleider, Libby Schleider and Corbin Schleider, of Columbia, Missouri.
