Obituary Condolences

Nov 8, 1935 - Oct 3, 2012 DEL CITY Our dad, Bobby Don Massey, left this earth and his physical struggles to forever be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at the age of 76 years old. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Guy Massey; his mother, Minnie Ellen Love Massey; and brothers, Ronnie and Jack Massey. He is survived by his children, Steve Hawley and wife Cindy, Leland Massey, Ladonna Massey and Orin Massey; his grandchildren, Brent Hawley and wife Amelia, Alicia Fragale and husband Jeffrey, Hillary Massey and Eric Massey; and his great-grandchildren, Owen and Ethan Hawley. He is also survived by his sisters, Billie Vine, Eunice Barnhart, Elda Harrison, Betty Dossett, Peggy McAlister, Linda Massey, and Connie Massey; one brother, Richard Massey; and many nieces and nephews. Dad was a remarkable man. He had polio as a child, and it left a devastating physical, permanent mark on him. Most people with this type of condition would have been considered totally disabled. Not Dad. Everyone who knew him could not help but to be amazed at what he was able to do. Dad built a house, raised greyhounds and horses, and was quite an inventor, especially when it came to inventing tools he needed. He was the loving father of four children, grandfather to four and great-grandfather to two, who loved him and will miss him very much. He became an accomplished well-known professional musician, playing lead guitar in bands throughout Oklahoma. He had a strong influence in the local music scene, and he shared his talent with many by teaching others to play music. Dad began working at Ordermatic Electronics for the late Bill Cunningham in 1963. He continued working until September of 2011 ending a 47-year career of collaboration and innovation that ended only because dad finally became physically unable to work. This is Quite an accomplishment for someone whom most would have considered disabled. Later in his life, dad placed his trust in Christ as his Lord and Savior, and we know he is in the presence of the Lord today, free from all physical pain, anxiously awaiting the new heavenly body as promised in God's Word. Funeral services for Bobby will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012, in Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, OK.
