Obituary Condolences

July 29, 1922 - Nov 14, 2012 YUKON Virgil A. Goodwin, Jr., age 90, of Yukon, OK, passed away Nov. 14, 2012, at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born July 29, 1922, in Willow, OK to Virgil Sr. & Lillie Mae (Waller) Goodwin. Virgil proudly served our country during WWII in the U.S. Navy Seabees Construction 56th Battalion. He was a self-employed truck driver and, after retirement, discovered a talent for Scroll Sawing. The gifts he made for his family and friends will be forever treasured. He also enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the World Wide Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alton Goodwin; and a grandson, Vinson Batey. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred Goodwin, of the home; two daughters: Linda Dowell and husband Tony, of Ada, OK; and Sue Stewart and husband Brady, of Edmond, OK; grandson, Dyron Batey, of Edmond, OK; granddaughter, Rebecca Stewart, of Germantown, MD; brother, Burl Goodwin and wife Deloris, of Anadarko, OK; sister, Lois Ward, of Gallup, NM; sister-in-law, Fran Johnson, of Houston, TX; many nieces; nephews; and special friends, Ronnie and Ann Young, of Yukon, OK. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Bill Merritt Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
