January 23, 1932 - December 9, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Raymond N. Diggs, 80, departed this life on December 9, 2012 at his home in Oklahoma City, OK. Raymond was born January 23, 1932 in Luther, Oklahoma to George D. Diggs and Flora A. Cole. He was the youngest of five children. He attended Luther Public Schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1951. During his high school years he excelled in "football and baseball" and received a varsity letter in 1950 and 1951. After graduating from high school he joined the United States Navy in 1952. On September 10, 1955 Raymond was united in marriage to his soul mate Alma Brown and was together for 53 years until she preceded him in death in 2008. Raymond employed with The Daily Oklahoma where he held position of Garage Superintendent of the Transportation Division. He worked 42 years until retirement. He was loved and respected even after retirement by his co-workers and the owner of The Oklahoman the late E.K. Gaylord. Raymond was an avid golfer, with several trophies on display to prove his talent in golfing. He participated and won several of the golfing tournaments sponsored by The Daily Oklahoman. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and he loved hunting and traveling with his wife and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Flora Diggs, a brother George Diggs Jr., and a sister Eldora Price. He is survived by one sister, Alma Ealom and one brother, James Diggs, both of Oklahoma City, OK; his caretaker and great niece, Debra L. Stanfield, Midwest City, OK: eight nieces, Wilma Stanton, Midwest City, OK, Sandra Dillard (Mike), Edmond, OK, Sherrill Ealom-Brooks (E.C.), Jackie Ealom, Carolyn Walker of Oklahoma City, OK, Beverly Wand (Darryl), Kim Diggs of Dallas, TX, Stephanie Oloe; four nephews, William Ealom, Jr., Jerry Ealom (Wanda), Charles (Chuck) Diggs, and Darrell Diggs, all of Oklahoma City, OK; 11 great nieces, 5 great nephews, 7 great great nephews, 13 great great nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held 11am Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Earl M. Temple Memorial Chapel, 2801 N. Kelley Ave., OKC, OK. Interment will be at Tillman Cemetery, Luther, OK.
